Who says Tiki Town doesn’t have any culture? Seriously, if you know says that can you tell me? I’m trying to find out who started that rumor because it sure isn’t true. Tiki Town has its very own art gallery that was put together by our very own curator of fine arts, Teresa Tryce. The art gallery has a collection of both classical and contemporary art on display.
The artwork on display in the art gallery is arranged by the century in which they were originally created. The artwork in the gallery ranges from classical Renaissance art from the 15th Century through modern graphic art including a selection of intriguing and curious optical illusion art. As you wonder through the art gallery you’ll find impressionist artwork by Claude Monet, post-impressionist artwork by Vincent Van Gogh, graphic art by M. C. Escher and numerous others. In addition, the Ayahuasca section of art has a selection of striking psychedelic artwork.
Each section of artwork has a ‘Touch for Info’ button that will provide visitors to the gallery with a notecard that provides details about the various works of art on display in that specific section.
Throughout the art gallery you’ll also find a variety of abstract sculptures on display that illustrate some of the creativity found within Second Life.
A very small selection of the artwork in the gallery is pictured to the left but this is only a tiny fraction of the many dozens of images you’ll find on display.
In addition, you will find what you might think is a simplistic piece of art but is actually a fun two-player Egyptian-themed chess-like strategy game called Khet that you and a friend can play.
The Tiki Town Art Gallery is a great place to take a date if you’re looking for a spot to stroll, relax and converse. Also, the Art Gallery is in a skybox so it’s quiet and the lag is lower.
But, unlike most every other place in Tiki Town there’s no sex going on in the art gallery. Try and behave and be on your best behavior when you visit. I know that can be a tall order for some of you.
I hope you visit the Art Gallery at least once. It’s one of the many hidden gems of Tiki Town.
